Unit 2 - Electric Networks
Content
Forces between charges (attraction and repulsion).
Positive and negative charges.
Static electricity.
Symbols to draw circuits.
Current is the flow of charges (electrons). Ampere as unit of current.
Voltage is the amount of positive and negative charge maintained at the ends of a battery. This push and pull the mobile negative charges in the conductor. Volts as unit of voltage.
Resistance is the measure of how difficult it is for charges to flow through a material. It´s the measure of how difficult it is for charges to flow through a material. Ohm as unit of resistance.
Conductor (allow current to flow freely and insulator (do not allow current to flow) materials.
Series and parallel circuits.
Skills and understanding
Understand forces between charges (attraction and repulsion)
Recognise that there are two kinds of charge positive and negative.
Describe current as a flow of charge.
Describe voltage as the amount of positive and negative charge maintained at the ends of a battery.
Describe resistance as a material's opposition to the flow of electric current.
Use the terms conductors and insulators correctly.
